Luggage
innovator, Samsonite, has harnessed
the lightweight strength properties
of Curv composite material to
develop its latest X'Lite collection
of iconic suitcases.
Samsonite have introduced under
its premium black label line, the
X’Lite collection made from CURV
composite material, manufactured by
Propex Fabrics GmbH, to create a
stylistic range of hand-luggage.
The molecular orientation of CURV
enables X’Lite to deliver
high-impact strength, performance
and abrasion-resistance that is
lightweight and environmentally
friendly. In a patented process,
layers of woven synthetic fabric are
compacted together to form a
composite sheet. This process
produces a self-reinforced material
with stiffness, strength and an
exceptionally high resistance to
impact, even at very low
temperatures.
“Samsonite’s use of CURV
composite is a revolution in the
industry, providing the worldly
traveler with the best in
performance,” says Quentin Mackay,
Samsonite’s Global Creative
Director. “With its fast design,
chrome finishing, lightweight—yet
strong—structure, and custom
features, X’Lite is the ultimate
object of desire.”
The X’Lite collection comes in a
full array of pieces including
regular uprights, Spinner uprights (Samsonite’s
four-wheel upright that provides
zero effort) in hardside and
softside/hybrid, garment bags,
duffels, backpacks, messenger bags
and more.
The X’Lite Uprights are the
foundation of the X’Lite collection
and is made entirely of CURV,
providing the most durable luggage
of the collection. The Softside/Hybrid
upright offers the hardside CURV
material for protection combined
with softside, full-grain cowhide
leather for flexible packing ease
and aesthetic appeal. The X’Lite
Hybrid Backpack is the new briefcase
for the millennium, incorporating
the unique CURV material for
lightweight durability.
X’Lite will be available in Black
and Silver from Autumn 2005.
